School Production

For the last few weeks the whole school has worked together to make a whole production. Each class had a different role as celebrations or traditions. My class is representing Diwali. Diwali is a Hindu festival symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. However, it is also celebrated by other religious communities in India, such as Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists. My favourite part of it all was the practices, they made me get over my stage fright, and I enjoyed painting my sign :3. The RISE values I used were resilience because I gave up and redid it.

Week 4 Reflection

This week I have done many things, Tech, Office duty, and Pasifika. This term in tech I have been doing sewing. I am part way through making the bag, I haven’t started to sew the sides yet but I have sewn the holy things on already.  Here’s what I’ve done so far: I have ruled out the fabric then started to draw on it. The design I’ve chosen is a pretty flower, the colours I have chosen are pink, yellow, green, blue and purple.

For Pasifika we have been learning cool dances and songs that I don’t know the exact name of  yet. But we did learn the Samoa national anthem. I really enjoy pasifika and sometimes we play fun games and it keeps me out of a bored state.

For both pasifika and tech I think I used the RISE values Success and Integrity, and my goals for next week is to sew the sides of my bag in tech and learn the names of the dances and songs in pasifika.

Week Three Term Two Reflection

This week I went to tech. My new tech group is sewing and we are making a bag. My teachers name is Mrs Shrimpston (I think). I have the bag material and I’ve been drawing a design on top of it. Next week I will be sewing it up. I found finding the design tricky and I found the rest fun to do. Next week I am looking forward to sewing.

colour block landscape

For CRT Sharon’s group (Caroline for today) we made colour block art. I found making the trees easy and I found tracing tricky. I used the polyline tool to make the shapes and stuff. A landscape is when you go outside and see the outdoors. I really enjoyed this and I wanna do it again some other time (I don’t).

Week Ten Reflection

This week was our ninth week back at school, and it’s coming to an end.  This week at tech I made so many key tabs for my family, I made two for my close family members and one for my distant ones.  I forgot my teacher’s name unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll ever learn it.

Something I enjoyed this week was hanging out with friends and writing stories in literacy. I also enjoyed eating my icy slicey.

Something I found difficult this week was probably dancing in assembly. It was oddly embarrassing and I never wanna do it again. It was sorta fun though? I don’t know but I do know that I’m never doing that again 🙂

Next week I look forward to trying harder and being more confident in my work and I hope for a better week. I think I’ll try better in my maths and do more in my literacy.

Y8 Girls Self-Defence

For the last three weeks on Monday and and Tuesday the year eight girls at Rawhiti School have been learning Self-Defence with Linda our Self-Defence teacher. We had five lessons over the three weeks, two Tuesdays and three Mondays. We learnt different kicks and punches and several techniques to defend ourselves during any situations that make us uncomfortable. We learnt how to use our voices when being grabbed or touched or get an uneasy feeling about a man near you.

Linda had told us stories about young girls defending themselves to dangerous men, she acted out scenarios with us as volunteers. At the last session she gave us a wristband, a poster and a certificate. I really enjoyed my time at Self-Defence class, Linda was really nice and I would like to do it again sometime in the future.

Week Nine Reflection

This week was our ninth week back at school, and it’s coming to an end.  This week I went to tech and made coaster holders. I also made a key-tab for my little cousin!  I forgot my teachers name unfortunately 🙁

Something I enjoyed this week was probably hanging out with friends and doing choice n’ challenge with Shanara and Grace.

Something I found difficult this week was round decimal points in maths, but in the end I succeeded and I’m feeling much for confident in my maths.

Next week I look forward to trying harder and being more confident in my work and I hope for a better week.

Reflection post week six

This week was cool, in tech we did product design and made coasters online on an app named ‘Tinkercad’. This week we also did PAT tests, maths and reading. I only did the reading one because I was not here the day we did the maths. It was really easy and I enjoyed it. I wonder what next week will bring. I really liked tech, I did writing I did hoola hooping with Sharon for the contest thing at third break it was really really fun.
